Bihar receives its first Cruise Tourism guests

The ship Pandawa Cruise created history on Sunday when it entered Bhagalpur via Sahebganj sailing on the river Ganga from Kolkata on its way to Varanasi, carrying 50 foreign tourists heralding the entry of the state on the map of cruise tourism.
The first group of foreign tourists from Europe and USA are undertaking a 14-day voyage from Kolkata to Varanasi. This two week tour provides a deep insight into the way of life, history and culture of Bihar. The expedition takes in a number of the most important historical sites in India including the colonial splendours of Calcutta, the sacred places of Buddhism around Bodh Gaya and Benares, now called Varanasi, the great cultural centre of Hinduism. In addition, the Pandaw will stop daily in smaller towns and villages to see handicrafts, rural life and a variety of local cultures as it passes from region to region.
Bihar is a newcomer in the crusie tourism sector in India. Goa, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Lakshadweep Islands and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the major cruise destinations in India.
